What appears to be a brilliant educational opportunity is available for zoo staff (they say keepers, managers etc.) and other people interested in working with African Animals. It's a three week course in a bush camp in South Africa where you learn about the ecology and biology of the species in situ, in order to better understand how to best manage them ex situ when you return to your zoo. A look at the curriculum page will give you a good idea of what you'll be learning.

Even though I'm not currently working in the zoo industry, I may just attend one of the sessions next year if time and funding permit.
