Is there a place where I can see how many zoos have a certain species?

For example (number) “zoos have African elephants”, and then it could list which ones. Is there a website or database where I can find this information? I’m trying to find it for a project about which species are rarest in zoos.

If you're referring to the United States (which is where your profile says you're located), then no. There is a website that does this for European zoos called Zootierliste, and a couple other regions of the world may have their own version. There are some websites that keep track of a few specific, charismatic animals (elephants, great apes, cetaceans, etc) but not one that looks at all animals.

Our American members have made some very comprehensive lists for a number of different species and groups. They are far from complete, but if you go to the North America or United States General forums you will find them.
