    Source?

Did they not have palm nut vultures before (or have I been imagining things last February 2020 just before CoVid19 broke loose)?

I saw palm nut vultures years ago. The Menagerie had a very nice collection of vultures.

Checked ZTL and indeed they seem to have the species already for a long time. Maybe a new pair arrived ? In the note on Facebook no other information when and from where the birds came.... :(.

I believe there have been some institutions this year and before breeding them for the first time!

According to the french forum Les Zoos dans le Monde, the zoo received :
    - three red-crowned amazons from Heidelberg last september,
    - one brazilian tanager from Bristol last november,
    - five cuban hutias from Plzen last january.
    All three new species.

On the other side 1.2 nilgais left the zoo for la Haute-Touche. There are no longer nilgais in Paris and this is a new species for la Haute-Touche.

Does it seem like Jardin Des Plants is slowly moving their collection in the direction of smaller taxa ?

Thank you for your reply @Antoine !

You say unfortunately so correct me if I'm wrong but I take it that you personally would be of the opinion that the collection moving in the direction of keeping smaller taxa would be a positive move ?

Of course ! This is one of the worst zoo in France with la Palmyre, Zoo des Trois Vallées and Mont Faron/Toulon. See all the big cats, primates and ungulates in these small and empty enclosure is a nonsense when you have 480 hectares in la Haute-Touche where you can do all you want...

Interesting view, thanks for sharing !

I think I am also of the same opinion with regards to smaller taxa.

    Some recent news :
    - the gaurs have now access to a larger enclosure. From what we see, the enclosure was enlarged on the anoas and transcapain urials enclosures. I don't know where are now located these two species.

Tao (a male), last north chinese leopard in Paris, will leave the zoo wednesday september 29th to reach Zoo Szeged (Hungary). The species will no longer be present in the Ménagerie. Their previous space will enlarge the snow leopards exhibit.

I rather have the zoo replace the snow leopards with another cat since snow leopards still feel too big for the exhibit. But at least the NC leopards are out of that depressing area.
