I guess that makes Brookfield the sunken skeleton, then.

Agreed. I almost had the skeleton part in there but wasn't exactly sure whether or not the Shedd received more funding than Lincoln park, and didn’t want to risk making a mistake. Thanks for clarifying that.

Not true… neither species is doing that well tbh. Africans have a lot of potential due to all the imported animals, though very few calves have been born to these animals (only Omaha’s herd has produced thus far). Yes, Asians are doing better than Africans but no where near as good as you make it sound. Not very many cows are being bred at regular intervals and most younger cows don’t breed for the first time till their late teens and even early 20s, not to mention EEHV killing off a bunch of calves :(
Europe’s elephant programs are far superior to both North American programs.

Perhaps a more accurate version of the above meme:

Yea it's telling that a lot of elephants are being imported from Europe. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say that the AZA is doing a soft phase out of elephants due to their PR baggage.

But I think it's just mediocre management

Also, I'd ascribe recent successes such as Houston to our improved understanding of how to manage a herd.

Houston is definitely that strong Mickey meme of just cranking out babies like no big deal

If they were doing any sort of phase out, they wouldn't be importing elephants.

Houstan does seem to be carrying the regional Asian Elephant breeding program. And you can't forget African Lion Safari, who've done a brilliant job as well.

Yeah what I said was a bit much. I just want the future of elephants in zoos to be more secure. I especially hope that breeding can kick in with other facilities.

Callee was born on the 19/09/2000 at the Pittsburgh Zoo to Jack and Savannah. He was initially sent to Birmingham in 2011, before arriving at Omaha on the 29/05/2019.

He's very well represented through his father's side.

The longer I wait, the more I feel like I'm bound to be disappointed by the final product...
Paradise Earth can either be the Metroid Dread/Cuphead: the Delicious Last Course of indoor rainforests, or the Cyberpunk2077/Duke Nukem Forever of indoor rainforests (and right now, I'm leaning towards Cyberpunk/Duke Nukem).

Sorry my bad, I was just looking through the threads, and I saw that Asians were doing a bit better than Africans in terms of breeding, I misinterpreted it pretty badly.
