Update on Injured Baby Gorilla: Video: Lincoln Park Zoo's Baby Gorilla Eats Broccoli, Does Other Cute Things: Chicagoist
Japanese macaque habitat (replacing the penguin house) and train ride coming soon! Lincoln Park Zoo announces $15 million expansion plan with primate habitat and train adventure - chicagotribune.com
Train adventure? What? Will it randomly derail once in every 10 rides? Will there be train heists or bad guy chases on the roof?
This is very exciting, as Lincoln Park Zoo (incredibly still free and with 3 million annual visitors) has an excellent gorilla/chimpanzee complex and is famous for primates. Japanese macaques make for an entertaining species and they will cope well with Chicago's frigid winters. Great Plains Zoo and Minnesota Zoo are two other establishments with plans to open new Japanese macaque exhibits.

From Lincoln Park Zoo's Facebook: "A baby klipspringer behind the scenes at Regenstein African Journey. (See a very cute photo of the baby klipspringer at Construction Continues | Lincoln Park Zoo | Free and open to all, 365 days a year!) The tiny antelope was born in early August. Unfortunately, the baby’s mother didn’t display proper maternal care, and the little one had to be removed to be hand-reared. Our animal care staff have done an excellent job nurturing the baby klipspringer. It recently returned to Regenstein African Journey, where it will continue to grow off exhibit."
