How funny. While the other Anana at the Brookfield Zoo was photographed outside enjoying all the cold weather.

Thanks for posting, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming details. How so many American zoos are opening new polar bear exhibits with such a dire shortage of bears is head-scratching.

I am always so torn now when I hear about a zoo renovating their polar bear exhibit. I think it's wonderful short term with the current resident and how it can improve their life. But once they die, I wonder what will become of the exhibit with the small population in the US. However, I am hoping the female polar bear, Anana, is relocated to another zoo during construction. Perhaps she can breed with a male.

I really believe that these zoo are extremely confident that laws regarding Polar Bears will soon change.Too many zoos are moving forward with plans on Polar Bear exhibits to think otherwise. Not to mention if you do want Polar Bears a state of the art exhibit is needed.

Concerning Anana, the female polar bear relocating during construction, where do you think she will end up? A zoo with an existing polar bear exhibit with a male she could mate with or one of the zoos opening up a new polar bear exhibit? If they did it this fall, the only new one opened would be North Carolina Zoo. However, if they waited for sometime in 2015, they have the option of Saint Louis or Buffalo. But I am not sure any of these zoos would like to introduce their guests to a particular polar bear only to see if leave in a couple years.

It's looks like the polar bear exhibit will take the place of the old grottoes. The sun bear, Andean bear, and spotted hyena will need to be relocated.

On April 10th, a female Sichuan Takin was born at the zoo. The father slightly injured her leg, but she has recovered and was reintroduced to her mother.

A female klipspringer calf was recently born at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

The Sichuan Takin calf sadly passed away a few days or so after birth, but a new Sichuan Takin, a male, was born yesterday.
