Other than felidae, bears is also my favorite. The reason I create this thread is the same as the previous thread, but this one is for bears. Currently kept * Malayan sun bear (Helarctos malayanus malayanus) at Taman Safari Bogor * American black bear (Ursus americanus) at Ragunan Zoo * Himalayan black bear (Ursus thibetanus laniger) at Taman Safari Prigen * Eurasian brown bear (Ursus arctos arctos) at Taman Safari Bogor * Syrian brown bear (Ursus arctos syriacus) at Taman Safari Prigen * Giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) at Taman Safari Bogor Formerly kept * Sloth bear (Melursus ursinus) at Ragunan Zoo * Polar bear (Ursus maritimus) at Taman Safari Bogor
There is probably a Bornean sun bears (Helarctos malayanus euryspilus) in Indonesian zoos, but I think they were kept on zoos outside of Java. Also, I'm not sure if the brown bears at Batu Secret Zoo are grizzly or Eurasian.
Until now I'm still confused about the difference between a grizzly bear and a Eurasian brown bear, I think at Taman Safari Prigen it's a grizzly bear according to some news. In the past, Eurasian brown bears also existed at Ragunan Zoo.
Probably in term of size, I noticed the bears at Batu Secret Zoo (Which supposedly are grizzlies) are a lot bigger and have a lighter fur than the brown bear at both Taman Safari. But honestly I'm no expert with bears.
