Comments on their FB suggest new male is Ottis from Colchester and for some reason is re-named Benny there. I can't see a mention of Germany..

So to anyone who went to Longleat this half term what do you think of the Cuban Crocodiles and Giant Otters so far ?

I don't really think your comment was needed? You're just being pedantic for no real reason.

He asked what people thought of it.

    So I replied.

There is one of each and both exhibits are rather small, although work remains ongoing on the Otters, but it looks a feels a bit of a rushed job and there is one of each on show, hence why I said plurals were not needed.

Say that there is only one of each species then - don't leave a condescending remark - it's just unnecessary.

I think you've just misunderstood the comment tbh. I don't believe it was a dig at Jedd's use of language... more a dig at Longleat for only having one of each species on show.

Maybe so - I've just seen similar comments before, which were intended in such a way. My bad if I have misinterpreted the situation.

Correct Zia. I'm also quite a tongue in check, Jovial type of person so often make tongue in cheek comments. Nothing is meant by it, like when I asked Migdog what the Maned wolf's name was, when he called it a named wolf, knowing was a spelling error, it's just humourous. My comment was 100% directed at Longleat. I personally found it odd to see singular animals in an exhibit which barely looked finished. Longleat often looks professional and this really didn't. It's like this was rushed for opening season and looks odd with one animal in each. It's like they were trying to quickly put something in to stop it being empty.

Does anyone know the current situation of the carnivores at the park for example how many lions they currently have.

I would be guessing but absolutely loads of Lions.

They have two Prides of at least 8-10 in each pride. Plus a further 3 lions off show at the back of the Lion House, and they also have 3 other Lions opposite the Hippo Paddock, which were separated for fighting and are off show.

The 3 lions that are seperate could be Harry,Kimya & Nikita I believe according to Animal Park 2018. Nikita did have a litter of 4 although I don't know where the others have gone.

The other pride would be Kabir's former pride headed by Lunar & Yendi(sisters born in 2001) I don't know if these sisters are still living? Mailaika & Jaseera(dob 2005) plus their sisters another 4 I think, 1:3 from one litter & 3:1 from another(the males all moved on I think). It was said a few years back that the prides reached 28 however I'm guessing this number has reduced.

I don't know if Niblao is still there he fathered a number of calves while he was there.

Animal Park in early 2018 gave a figure of 28 Lions.

The Giant Otter and Cuban Crocodiles are settling in really well in their new home and also in the main square 2 rides have been added which is the Carousel and Tea Cup Ride.

There are definitely two of the crocodiles. We visited today and saw them. There are plans for further otters but they wanted to settle the female first from what I have heard. She has quite a character. Watching her today was wonderful- any potential suitors are going to have their work cut out to impress her!
