This private zoo in town Yampil used to have antelopes, bisons, monkeys, bears, ostriches etc.

Town Yampil was accupied by Russian army early during the war and liberated by Ukrainian army 30th September.

After liberation, all animals were dead. Most were killed and eaten by Russian soldiers, some starved or were killed by artillery shells.

The single surviving animal is an Asiatic black bear. He was in small cage that was covered by metal sheets to protect it from schrapnels and bullets. He was found by soldiers and moved to a shelter near Kyiv.

Ca 1 week ago, this bear was moved to Poznan zoo in Poland and named Jampol.

Ukraińscy żołnierze w gruzach znaleźli żywego niedźwiedzia. Jest już bezpieczny w poznańskim ZOO
