Another Ring-tailed lemur was born; and the five pups have now been named: From socials: The twins born to Lilo are called Lalaina and Ravo (meaning Loved and Happy in Malagasy). Debbie's pup is called Zo meaning Spiritual Leader and Toky (meaning confidence) was the name given to Blosoom's pup. BUT... we also have another name to announce as a pup was recently born to Mikea who received the name Mino (meaning believe in Malagasy).
Three Bison calves have been born: The calves were born over two days to Moneypenny (four years), Rose (four years) and Erika (three years).
Chimpanzee birth imminent: Hannah (1993) is pregnant and due any day now. This is her second offspring - following on from the birth of Hope in 2019. Hannah is a genetically valuable chimpanzee and if the sire of her second infant is Tsotsi (1989) again, her offspring will similarly be genetically valuable. Fingers crossed for a successful outcome!
African Lion Death and Transfer Jelani (2013) has transferred to Perth Zoo to join a non breeding pride, following the recent death of his half brother - Inkosi (2007). Inkosi and his twin brother, Zinzi (2007-2008) were the first lion cubs born at Monarto Safari Park - with Inkosi spending his years in two male coalitions - first with his uncle; then with his half brothers - Jelani and Mlinzi (now at the National Zoo). Monarto now hold a cohesive pride of 5.7 lions (the largest in the region).
Don’t think this has been mentioned yet in this thread. The two Cheetah cubs born earlier this year have been named Hani and Absame in honour of two cubs of the same names who were recently rescued in Somalia by the Cheetah Conservation Fund. Monarto currently has ten Cheetah (including these two and their mother, Kesho). Information from socials.
Hannah the chimpanzee has given birth: The infant is a healthy male and has been named Happy by Dr Jane Goodall, who named Hannah’s first infant, Hope in 2019. Reported on socials.
I'm not seeing an annoucement, do you have a link to this news? I was tossing up whether to visit tomorrow... this might be a clincher for me!
