Does anyone know what has happened to two of the otters in the sea otter exhibit?

My partner and I enjoy checking in on the live webcam and have noticed only 2 of the 4 in recent days...

As a part of their sea otter surrogacy program, some experienced mother's move behind the scenes to take care of abandoned pups

I know that Rosa was moved off display because she went through a "crab phase" where she ate mostly crab, and the aquarium didn't want crab shells scratching the tank walls

The Kelp Tank is getting new Rock Work. The panels are being made and will be floated into place attached to rust free strukture on the back of tank sometime soon. Exiting time!

Does anyone have an estimate of how many gallons the aquariums kelp forest tank holds?

At least one young ocean sunfish (mola mola) is now on display in the open sea.

There is often at least one in the open ocean tank since it opened in 1996.

I think you misinterpreted the point of my comment. I was confused by Ebirah's excitement when MBA has regularly had the species for years, it's not an unknown or first occurrence. I've seen molas there myself on several visits.

Mola molas are only sporadically displayed at Monterey Bay, as they often times release them back to the wild.

I am well aware of this, yes. Was there a particular reason for your earlier excitement?

I'm confused, I thought you haven't been to MBA? Or are you talking about the Open Ocean cam?
