Moonrats in captivity/as pets?

    It did cross my mind when you mentioned it yesterday. I didn't see it, and I can't think of where it would be kept in the zoo as I went round a few times and visited some off-show areas. Perhaps it's semi - wild? I'd be interested in more details about this animal. It seems zoochatters Jonas Livet and Pedro didn't see it either during their visits in 2009.

    Many years ago a zoo keeper informed me that the moon rat, kept in the Clore Pavilion, was largely fed on newly born ‘pinkie’ mice.

    Hmm... so I would be right in guessing they may go after a tarsier? Also, what was its habitat like? Thank you in advance.

    regarding the moon rat at the Taiping Zoo, I was just there today and asked the vet about it (although I knew it wasn't still there) and he said they had it about 8 years ago. So I guess it didn't live long past when they first acquired it in 2008, and it was just never removed from the ISIS records.
