    good news but I'm surprised neither of the other two female Gorillas have become pregnant so far. Particularly 'Kena' who bred several times at Barcelona Zoo.

    Do you know;

    1. Where the new female came from?

    2. If she is the mother of the baby- or is that one the older daughters of the existing male?

    Thankyou.

    I believe the original female died, leaving several grown-up daughters and their father as the group. They handraised her last baby(also a female) and later reintroduced it into the group.
