In my opinion, two of the best Zoo books ever published are from former Berlin director Heinz-Georg Klös:

- Die Arche Noah an der Spree (one of the best zoo chronicles I have)
- Der Berliner Zoo im Spiegel seiner Bauten (a monography about the Zoos recent and historical buildings)

Both are absolute must-haves for every Zoo-Nerd

Hi all.
With all these fab collections hope someone can help. I'm looking for a book that I read many years ago and haven't found since. It was about keeping exotic animals. Based in London, the author worked in London Zoo. They kept slow loris, fruit bats, toucan and I believe coatimundi amongst other animals. Does this ring any bells for anyone please.

I now have a lifetime collection of around 650 zoo related books and know of others with many more, so there will be no attempt to list them here. But, those who are interested in collecting zoo books may find the Bibliography on the Bartlett Society website zoohistory.co.uk helpful. Regarding favourites, I must agree with the earlier post that Lee S. Crandall's "The Management of Wild Mammals in Captivity" is a must and full of useful information despite being published 60 years ago.
