A pair of new young elephants was given to Japan by the Sri Lankan government as the 60th anniversary of Japan and Sri Lanka diplomatic relations. Amara (F,8 yrs), Bidura (M, 5 yrs) will be come to Japan in March 14th from the Pinawala Elephant Orphanage. Sri Lanka had given elephants to Japan 2 times before in both 1956 ( Anura, M, 60 yrs, living in Tama zoo) and 2007 ( Anura (F, 8 yrs, living in Higashiyama zoo, Nagoya), Kosara(M, 6yrs, living in Higashiyama zoo, Nagoya ). To see another countries, China had received 1 male elephant from Sri Lanka in 2008 and is now living in Beijing zoo and South Korea received another pair of elephants from Sri Lanka in 2010 ( Sugella (F, 8 yrs), Gajaba (M, 6yrs)) and they are now living in Seoul zoo.
