New exhibit planned for 2013 in France

    A small thread about the new exhibit planned this year in our french zoological parks :

    Zoo de Champrépus : Island for a pair of yellow-cheeked gibbon (1.0 aus Bratislava and 0.1 aus Doué la Fontaine), first part of the 5-year asian project which will include Sumatran tiger, Iranian leopard, Javan Langur and red pandas until 2018.

    Zooparc de Beauval : New island for a gorilla bachelor-group (with Yangu, who lived alone in an indoor exhibit for 7 years) and renovation of the tropical birds house (with new species including two-toed sloths and Java mouse-deer)

    Bioparc-Zoo de Doué la fontaine : "Okapis Sanctuary", a huge walkthrough free-flight aviary for differents species from Central-Africa, including Lady Ross Turaco, Livingstone turaco, Hamerkop, Hadada ibis, Spur-winged goose, Hamlyn's monkey, duikers (probably red-forest) and of course, okapis.

    Parc animalier et botanique de Branféré : First part of a water-themed project, with five natural pools for harbor seals and jackass penguins on 1 ha (2.5 acres). Beavers, racoons and indian rhinos will join them in the three next years.

    Océanopolis Brest : New outdoor area with rocky exhibit and underwater pools for otters, with european otters and sea otters (unfortunately, the aquarium met some difficulties to obtain this species, so californian sea lions will live in their enclosure for the moment).

    Zooparc de Trégomeur : Aviary for yellow-throated marten

    Parc animalier des Pyrénées : Aviary for Bearded Vulture and first part of the two years project "French Guyana Biozone". This year, the park welcomed three giant otters from Doué la Fontaine. Until 2015, new south american species will join them, including butterflies, primates (sakis, tamarins, marmosets), sloths, armadillos, opossums and lots of birds (cock-of-the-rock, hummingbird, toucans...) all living in nocturnal buildings, walktrhough aviaries or tropical houses.

    Safari de Peaugres : New exhibit for the spotted hyenas with a glass tunnel

    Zoo de Jurques : Different new species including fishing cats, armadillos or muntjacs

    Zoo de la Teste : New exhibits for racoons and Asian black bear, new lemur walkthrough islands, and different new species including macao and military macaws, red river hogs, white-headed capucins, black-and-white ruffed lemurs, blackbucks and a "secret arrival"...

    Zoo d'Asson : "Nosy Be", a new lemur walkthrough exhibit (including a new species, the red lemur)

    CERZA : Extension of the african lion exhibit with a glass tunnel

    Zoo de la Flèche : Construction of lodges to give the opportunity to visitors to sleep in front of the white tigers and the arctic wolves

    Parc animalier de Sainte-Croix : New 1ha north-american themed exhibit for six timber wolves (from Herberstein) and renovation of the actual exhibit for European and arctic wolves to create a large zone about this species

    Parc de la Tête d'Or : Unification of the two old lion islands to create one larger exhibit for the asian lions

    Spaycific'Zoo : New wallaby walkthrough exhibit, new yellow mangoose exhibit, new nocturnal exhibit for Common brushtail possum and arrival of a new species, the kinkajou

    Ménagerie du jardin des Plantes : New aviary dedicated to the asian-desert birds, including one of the first presentations of houbara bustard in Western Europe.

    La Ferme aux Crocodiles : A new species, the Morelet's crocodile

    Domaine de la Bourbansais : A new species, the red panda

    Parc des oiseaux : Different new species, including lesser flamingos, Bali starling and Andean cock-of-the-rock

    Parc animalier du Cézallier : acquired by new owners, it is now called "Parc animalier d'Auvergne" and will only show animals from moutains (including Alpes, Andes, Himalaya, Bukit Barisan, Atlas, Kenya, Isaho...). This year, two new exhibit were created (one for Alpine ibex and chamois and a second one for arctic wolves and black bears) and a new species was welcomed, the wolverine.

    Natur'Zoo de Mervent : A new species, the african wild dog

    Le PAL : African-themed lodges to invite visitors to sleep surrounded by antelopes, zebras, warthogs and cranes.

    Zoo d'Amnéville : New domestical animals farm and a new species, the white lion
