Calgary Zoo has officially begun its baby watch with Yewande. The article says shes in labor but the zoo's Facebook page only says its a birth watch. Nothing about actual labour which would be pretty unusual to announce.

As reported on Zoo Atlanta's socials, Kidogo & Shalia's baby is male, and has been named "Willie B lll".

 

Cleveland - 0.1 Kebi is pregnant and due this July with her second infant! This will be the second gorilla infant born at the zoo, and silverback Mokolo is the sire of both.

It's pretty interesting, Kebi was excluded from the breeding program due to medical reasons (I believe due to Kambera's c-section). At first I thought this would be a non reproductive troop, I was pretty wrong.
I'm pretty curious how she gonna deal with this baby, she didn't raised Kambera but acted like a big sister. I hope she learned with Freddy, Jumoke and Cassie.

 

Gladys Porter Zoo has announced the death of 36 year old Penney. They think she may have died from cardio-respiratory failure and secondary renal failure. That leaves her 3 year old daughter Sally without a mom. Hopefully the other females in the group will be able to step in and help as well as dad MBundi.

Very sad news She was one of the few “brunette” gorilla left from the original breeding group at the zoo. Fingers crossed her young daughter continues to thrive.

Also what is hopefully more positive news, I strongly suspect that Yewande at Calgary is in labour (and has likely given birth at the time of me posting this), due to an abrupt closure of their African Rainforest building today. We’ll see what their social media reveals in the coming days!

very sad news. I expect Mbundi to take the role of caregiver. When an infant gorilla looses its mother, the father steps up and provides care towards the baby.

 

Calaya (0.1) and Baraka (1.0) at the Smithsonian National Zoo had a baby yesterday morning! Sex is still unknown.

Saint Louis - 1.0 Kayin has been transferred to the St Louis Zoo from the Buffalo Zoo. He will be joining the zoo’s bachelor troop which includes 3 other males (Joe, Bakari, and Zachary).

Pittsburgh - 0.1 Moka gave birth to a healthy male infant named Bo on May 11th, this is the second infant born at the zoo this year following Charlotte in February. The zoo has also announced that their 8 gorillas now live in two distinct troops. Mrithi, Moka, and their 3 sons including Bo make up the first troop while Ibo, her daughter Charlotte, and silverback Harry make up the second troop.

Calgary has announced Jasiri and Yewande's baby is a male. He will be named in the coming weeks.

 

The National Zoo's newborn gorilla's sex has been confirmed as 0.1. They have a naming poll up!

The Detroit Zoo's 3:0 Western Lowland Gorillas are moving to another AZA zoo in the near future. After some exhibit renovations, they plan to house a family, breeding troop in the future.

Detroit's bachelors are heading for Cincinnati. And in exchange Detroit will be welcoming Mshindi's group from Cincinnati plus Nayembi from Lincoln Park.
