Species survival program (ssp) is a breeding program that African elephants are a part of and there in charge as far in AZA zoos go where elephants should go and who should they breed with

no kidding, I’m talking about breeding program. It was the SSP that recommended Vui’musi to breed with Amy and Miss Betts

SSP for both elephant species is a joke. Take it with a grain of salt. Europe on the other hand.....

What does Europe have to do with Amys death? Europe and North America are different continents

You were the one who mentioned to SSP. I'm just telling you my source who was in the know about what happened to Amy

Do you think I’m stupid. Of course I know it isn’t organized. Buddy you need to go back and look what I said cause I never said that once I took it seriously. However if it’s such bad publicity for the media which you stated earlier on in the thread it would be bad publicity for the zoo not the media. And if Fresno were lying about Amy’s death they’d be pulling some serious strings for doing that.

I mentioned Europe because they are light years ahead of the US when it comes to a proper multi facility breeding program

Calm down fella. Not calling you stupid. Having done quite a bit of PR for various facilities I know how it works and my source was consulted on the intros given their experience and Fresnos inexperience at the time

Im fine. I just know for a fact that Fresno Chaffee Zoo wouldn’t cover up an animals death like that. Because if they were lying and if the public ever found out there would be an out roar from PETA and every “animal rights” organization out there

Was curious only cause I've heard scuttlebutt at one of the EMAs but Fresno reps were tight lipped about it.

You should put everything you type into one post, instead of posting three different things with each only being one short sentence. :p

While the SSPs may be flawed, they're still better than having no program at all.

@EsserWarrior you are right, got I little ahead of myself, my apologies I will just edit in the future

The truth is it doesn't look good. The reason I used "programs" in reference to individual facilities cause it actually worked better that way. The EEP for elephants is quite militant and it worked. They also have a better disposition than us Merican manager/owner egos (I say this having gone to a few European "EMAs"). I was half hopeful in the mid 2010s when they did the big ele SSP masterplan but it hasn't panned out. As I tell a friend of mine who works at a current breeding facility for elephants, you got have hope until they aren't there.
