Speaking of pregnancies, this fall/winter is going to be full of rhino births (of all species) in the US! :)

Jao, Lola, Sally, and four females at the Wilds are all due this fall/winter.

Tashi the GOHR is due this fall, and Sanya has just given birth. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple other females are due before the end of the year too.

And Andazi the Black rhino is due this fall as well. I have a feeling at least one more female is due this fall/winter as well, but we'll see.

Fingers crossed all pregnancies are sucessful and we have a bunch of calves running around by the end of the year!

Jao at DAK gave birth to her first calf early this morning! Sire is Dugan.

This is a very exciting birth since Jao is a wild-born cow so her little one is quite genetically valuable. Maybe not super genetically valuable though since Dugan on the other hand is a bit more represented (both his parents were very prolific).

According to @Kifaru Bwana the cutoff for first time rhino females is around 20 years, so I was a little worried about Jao's pregnancy. Jao is around 25 years old, so I'm very glad everything well and she gave birth to a healthy calf.

Also, SDZSP's female calf born a couple weeks ago was sired by J Gregory and interestingly Dugan (the sire of Jao's new baby) is J Gregory's half brother. Both boys were sired by the sort of famous male Chuck (longtime companion to the NWR Nola).

0.1 calf named Aziza was born on World Rhino Day (September 22nd) at Lion County Safari to dad Chitabe and mom Anna. The article announcing the birth also says the park is home to 3.11 (14) rhinos and they mention two of the males (Buck and Chitabe) and 2-year old Bash is most likely still alive so I guess Ronnie recently passed away.

By the way, you forgot the Erie Zoo in Erie, Pennsylvania. They have two males named Bill and Bumper but I do not know any more information about them other than that.

As @Austin the Sengi posted on the DAK thread, Jao’s male calf has been named Mylo!

Toronto's Theo is heading for Greater Vancouver Zoo where he will be their first white rhino. He was deemed surplus to the population. If the temps don't dip he could go soon but more likely in the spring.

I have a feeling that Kacy, Kiazi, Amani, Victoria, Nikita, Wallis could be pregnant and due in 2023, but this is just speculation and wishful thinking
