Here's an article with both of the vet techs who's actions not being punished resulted in the firings. They say the report doesn't give the whole or even an accurate picture of the events or the impact it had on the outcome for Kutai. They were never interviewed before the decision was made. How can you fire someone for not punishing others and you dont even talk to the parties involved? Im probably being unfair but it sounds like they were looking for any excuse possible to fire the head vet.

It is called unfair dismissal and is fraught with heavy financial penalties!

This sounds very troubling... the 6 tamarins who died did so in a plastic cooler with holes of what may be travel related shock. Is it normal to house tamarins inside coolers? As the one article points out they are meant to be air tight and this could have caused other problems. The curator of primates has been accused of refusing to help the 3 suvivors, which includes a 7 week old baby now being hand reared.

The lorikeets are heading south to make way for the new education/conservation center. They will be heading to the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society. The exhibit will close for the season on September 30th.
