The seperation area in the indoor area of pandasia has been removed, Fan Xing is now allowed to roam all of the indoor area
After the last one was moved to a safari park in Italy, there are currently no zebras living in Ouwehands Dierenpark. In the coming weeks, the zebra enclosure will be refurbished, after which a new zebra herd will probably be seen in November. This time it will be grévy's zebras.

A male Grévy's zebra arrived last week. Ouwehands Zoo will keep a male group of this species. A second zebra is expected within a few weeks.
Some news from the Dutch zoo magazine "De Harpij": - The last remaining cub of the clouded leopards has moved to Parc Animalier de Bouillon in Belgium. - Three males of the harbour seals have left the zoo. One male came from Wildlands Emmen, he will stay here temporarily before going on to England. There were also two harbour seals born this year.

Lots of births in the aquarium, most notably a lot of axolotls and, for the first time since 2004, seahorses!
In the summer of this year, the young giant panda Fan Xing will move to China. Fan Xing will turn two years old in May. Normally young pandas move to China around the age of four. The reason that Ouwehands has chosen to move him to China already is because young pandas in the wild leave their mother when they are two years old. In this way, they mimic nature as much as possible. After his departure, Ouwehands Dierenpark will work to establish a natural mating between Xing Ya and Wu Wen that will hopefully result in another giant panda cub.
Some news from the Dutch zoo magazine "De Harpij": - The two family groups of bonobos are slowly introduced to each other. There is a lot of activity among them and each individual is trying to find his place in the group. - From Beauval 1.0 Java mouse-deer came to accompany the present female. - 0.3 harbour seals moved to other zoos. After the moves there are 3.2 harbour seals left at Ouwehands. - The two new Grévy's zebras come from Zoo Schwerin and Dvur Králové Zoo.
