Ouwehands zoo wil recive a pair of panda's from China. The news was just releasd so I am on My smartphone typing this wonderful news.
A little update about the two Panda's their names are Xing Ya (male) and Wu Wen (female). If the building go's acorrding to plan these two, three year old animals will arrive at Ouwehands in September 2016, their exhibit wil be called Pandasia
According to the Dutch newspapper The Gelderlander, next to pana's Pandasia wil also include the following animals: Red panda's, Muntjac, Clouded leopards and Sun bears.
Already quite a while ago , they came from Tierpark Berlin. A new exhibit will be/is being build on location of the former owl/raven/ground hornbill aviary, which was also a sun bear enclosure long long ago.
Are the tarsiers from RSCC still alive? And, if so, are they on show at all? I'm not expecting a "yes" to both - or even either- of these questions, but it is good to hope.....
Still alive but, like the short-tailed spotted cuscus, offshow I'm afraid :/ In other news, I can officially confirm that Ouwehands plan to get bonobos hopefully in 2017!! When I visited La Vallée des Singes during Easter I got talking to the bonobo keeper and she told me that Lisala (female born in Stuttgart in 1980) and her sons Bondo (born in Wuppertal in 1991) and Luebo (born in Wuppertal in 2006) will be moved to Ouwehands. Apparently another six have been recommended to join them; namely Kutu (female from Frankfurt, born in Stuttgart in 1998) and her daughter Visola (born in 2015 in Frankfurt) as well as Lingoye (female born in Stuttgart in 2007, currently in Planckendael) and new females Kali and Maddie from San Diego Zoo! The keeper said that this is what the studbook recommended so it's not certain as of yet but I can confirm that they will definitely be getting bonobos, and that they'll be living on what is currently either the camel or llama island (haven't been in years so not sure which) exciting!!
