    PAIGNTON'S MAMMALS

I've compiled a current list of the zoo's on show (as far as I know) mammals. It might be interesting to watch developments in the coming months, in view of the TB situation. Some are defined as 'unsexed' because I haven't been able to say one way or another. They are listed in a completely unscientific way!

63 Baboons according to the keeper the other day (which included the 3 days old baby at the time).

There were at least 4 Kangaroo's the other day, no idea what sex though.

Also there is only one Red Panda, the female has died.

I'm probably wrong, but is it not 1.2 Asiatic Lions?

Thanks. I was going to put >4 for the kangaroos but decided not to as there was no sign of them yesterday. I did assume there were still two red pandas. Never assume!

The lions are father, son and daughter.

Only 2 cusimanse? A bloody shame! :( Thanks for taking the time out for making this (very depressing) list.

@Rajang21 Where is the dormouse? I have visited multiple times and never seen a cage for it.

The dormouse is in a small enclosure outside the Monkey Heights kitchen, on the elevated viewing area that looks over the mangabey enclosure. Obviously it's very rarely visible.

Gigit - any update on Kangaroo numbers? Also, the food whiteboard in the mammal food prep area still has tree shrew on it?

I haven't managed to get as far as the Kangaroos this week and last week the gate to their enclosure was locked. I only counted the on show mammals - it looks as though the tree shrews could be hidden away somewhere then.

There has been no announcement from the zoo, but I've noticed that Richard, the last White-faced saki monkey hasn't been around for a few weeks and today his sign had gone. Also, only one Bongo has been on show for a while. So, as my list concerns mammals on show:

    Bongo, Eastern 0.1
    Saki, white-faced 0.0

Allen's swamp monkey: Not only is there no sign of Swoozie, but there is no sign on her empty and closed house. I fear the end of an era :(

    Monkey, Allen's swamp 0.0
