    Hi,

The giant panda is perhaps the powerful symbol in the world when it comes to species conservation. Despite the conversation success pandas still persist with the problems in recent years due to habitat loss and fragmentation. Even China's growing population is also a big threat for Panda.

In 1985 survey, population of panda is recorded around 1,100 in wild. In 2004 it was recorded 1,600. The pandas were discovered living in regions not thought to have the species. In fact, 11 more counties were found with panda distribution compared to those revealed by the previous survey.

Chinese government and other international animal welfare associations are taking great effort to increase the panda count. In China and in other countries as a part of conservation program panda breeding and growing panda in captivity.

Here you see great collection of Pandas in captivity.:)

By mid-2005, the Chinese government had established over 50 panda reserves, protecting more than 4,000 square miles and over 45 percent of remaining giant panda habitat.

Today, only around 61 percent of the population, or about 980 pandas, are under protection in reserves. As China's economy continues its rapid development, it is more important than ever to ensure the giant panda's survival.

More recently, WWF has been helping the government of China to undertake its National Conservation Program for the giant panda and its habitat. This programme has made significant progress: Reserves for this species cover more than 6,000 square miles of forest in and around their habitat.

One of the cutest God creations should be saved. Hope Chinese government apart from concentration on their economic growth would concentrate on the national treasure.
