This would be an option indeed, but afaik, the institution has plans to acquire giant pandas. I've no idea where they are going to acquire these though.

Afaik, red pandas haven't bred in Buin zoo yet, but I could be wrong. No idea about what's been going on with the species in Santiago zoo though.

Red pandas have bred at Santiago Zoo. All the original pairs of red pandas in the zoos of Chile came from animal collections in Japan, so that May be a source for future exports.

Great to know. I wasn't aware that they had an instagram account.
About how they will manage to get these exotic species, I imagine they will look for some foreign zoos, specially to the ones that have no conservation programs for these species.

Unfortunately, I have no new informations to add. I'm actually looking forward to know more about the inauguration and everything. I wanna visit this zoo to have my own conclusions.

Hmm, I knew they wouldn't take long to take some of their kangaroos there. After all, their exhibit at the aquarium was crowded when I last visited...

Zoo Rio Preto transferred seven animals to Parque de Cotia. Those are a female maned wolf puppy born at Zoo Rio Preto, a female giant anteater, a female southern tamandua, two chestnut-eared aracaris and two peach-fronted parakeets. The maned wolf and giant anteater belong to a conservation program in partnership with AZAB and ICMBio.

These are good news indeed. Have you read anything special about it? Like species kept, etc?

An antelope shipment went to this park at the beggining of April. It included a 1-year old male white-tailed gnu from Olomouc, 5 female Nile lechwes from Ostrava and 2 male Nile lechwes from Dvur Kralove.
