I picked up a copy of the Peterson Field Guide to Finding Mammals in North America by Vladimir Dinets at a used book store recently for $6. I want to say it was one of the best $6 purchases I have ever made. This book has individual profiles for every native North American mammal (and some of the introduced ones) and goes through all the most reliable spots to see that species. I highly recommend that anyone interested in wildlife watching in North America pick up a copy of this book.

I've got that - but I bought it when it was first published and it cost me a lot more than $6!
