I hope that there will lots of birds including ratites, flamingos, herons, storks, ibises, spoonbills, cranes, hornbills, and pigeons!
Perhaps the most important factor in my opinion is I hope it lets you build customizable enclosures like in Zoo Tycoon 2. I never got Zoo Tycoon for X-Box because all enclosures already came pre-fabricated. I like to design my own enclosures from scratch!
That’s one of my concerns. I haven’t seen anything suggesting you can design an exhibit’s size and shapes
I've played a lot of Planet Coaster and as its the same developer and they seem to be using the same engine/functions in Planet Zoo I'm really hype for when it releases. Planet Coaster really let you customize the terrain, build your own buildings and everything you can imagine. Way better than any other game like Roller Coaster Tycoon or Zoo Tycoon. "Over 50 animals" are going to be in the base game, but there 100% will be DLC's like marine animals and more themed packs (Safari? Birds? Endangered animals? Who knows?). Several animals have already been confirmed and it seems to be a lot of different kinds (reptiles, birds, carnivores, herbivores, etc) Frontier Developments succeded to take a lot of the good parts from Roller coaster tycoon when they created Planet Coaster, so I'm sure they will make us be able to customize the most of it! If you are interested in the game and would like to see more i really recommend the youtube channels Rudi Rennkamel and Geekism, they are going through every screenshot, trailer and are also collecting information from all around the web to give out new information about the game. For example, here is a video when Geekism is talking about the animals that will or might be in the base game: And here is a video when Rudi is analyzing the screenshots:
I am pretty positive that will be a thing, just like in Zoo Tycoon. Frontier is all about the customization when it comes to "Planet Coaster" so i will be pretty shocked if they go the other way in "Planet Zoo".
That was mostly due to that game being developed for a console and needed to be played with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse. If you look at the screenshots, every exhibit is different with unique designs so I wouldn’t worry about it.
I very much like the idea of varying levels of difficulty based on building your zoo in a warm vs. cold climate. The fact that animals will actually retreat into warmer shelters is so cool. I have high hopes for this game, especially considering how well-received Planet Coaster was.
If anyone is interested in what animals could be in the game, Gamer Empire has started a series which serves to predict which animals could appear in the game. The animals are split by biome (grassland, shrubland, savanna, rainforest, temperate forest, wetlands, tundra, polar, desert, alpine, coastal & islands). So far the ones that'd been made are Grassland and Shrubland: Savannah and Tropical Rainforest
Rather just wait for animals to confirmed, wishlists are fine but give us no real info about the game.
This video shows the new screenshot with an apparent underwater viewing area for hippos. Sadly, I couldn't find the screenshot itself, but here you have the video!
