Tierpark Hellabrunn Polar bears?

    According to the site zootierliste.de, Munich Zoo doesn't keep polar bears any longer, can any one confirm if this is true?

    That is right, the polar bears from Munich were shipped to Tierpark and Zoo Berlin two months ago. The young female "Giovanna" is living together with "Knut" now.

    Munich is going to built a new polar bear enclosure during the next 2 years.

    The homepage says that the enclosure will be ready in summer 2010. Can anyone confirm which date it will be finished?

    I was at this zoo in late May, and I can confirm that the very nice extended polar bear habitat is open, with at least 2 polar bears in it.

    We were rushing by the time we got to the polar bears so didn't get a chance to get very good exhibit photos, but this is the naturally-planted half of the enclosure:

    Polars bearly visible at the end of the pool where all the people are standing.
