Pretty much an upcoming zoo-building game with prehistoric animals. Prehistoric Kingdom I have higher hopes of it than Planet Zoo.
Why higher hopes specifically? Planet Zoo has its flaws and frustrations but many consider it to be the current champion of zoo stimulators despite these.
If you’ve followed the devlogs and whatnot with PK, the devs seem to have put much more effort in the game itself than Planet Zoo has. Planet Zoo is a good game in itself, and admittedly I had hopes much too high for it. I will not explain further of my issues with PZ in this topic, otherwise it will be derailing this very thread.
The developers of prehistoric kingdom are working on a hobby project called simplizoo. SimpliZoo (@SimpliZoo) on Twitter
I am so excited for Prehistoric Kingdom. Unfortunately I find it highly unlikely I'll be able to run it on my laptop or chromebook so I guess it'll be something to look forward to when I head home for breaks. Fortunately I'm still able to play Jurassic World: Evolution on my Xbox, which is a fun game but I feel like I'd enjoy PK so much more.
Holy coprolite! This game looks fantastic! It's basically the unofficial Prehistoric Park: The Game now. I just wish I had a computer that'd be able to run it.
Yeah, Planet Zoo can't beat Prehistoric Kingdom. My jaw dropped when the Microraptors appeared, and the unexpected Deinocheirus was an exciting surprise.
The only thing I'm not a fan of is the fact that the T.rex is lipless (and that we have too many theropods, but that issue is never going to go away)
For those of you that have not watched the September developer livestream, it was confirmed that only 22 species of animal would make it to the early-access version of the game. Other features that will not be in the version are ontogeny (growing up), fighting/hunting and weather. Here is a list of 20 species shown in the trailer. The remaining two species are unknown, but at least one is confirmed to be an aviary species like Microraptor. Mammuthus Coelodonta Smilodon Edmontosaurus Dryosaurus Lambeosaurus Parasaurolophus Stegosaurus Ankylosaurus Triceratops Nasutoceratops Psittacosaurus Protoceratops Tyrannosaurus Torvosaurus Deinocheirus Microraptor Camarasaurus Brachiosaurus Argentinosaurus
Closed alpha is out if anyone has purchased it! (Keys for closed alpha however are no longer available)
Prehistoric Kingdom launches early access on April 27th and! Don't know if anyone knows this but I think the developers said the first creature to be added after early access will be Spinosaurus. Edit: The game costs 29.99 USD in case anyone's curious.
Game's out and... I'm on the fence on whether to buy it or not. Sure, Acrocanthosaurus is a great sight so early on, and Dryosaurus is a nice surprise, but... Come on, NO armoured dinosaurs? NO maniraptorans bigger than a crow? Only three mammals?! I think I'll bide my time until more content comes out. I may even post a list of DLC's I'd like to see somewhere down the line.
Well, the game is in Early Access, but the first major update (which will add new animals) isn't coming out until July, but all your complaints are expected to be addressed by the time full launch comes out.
