The Prospect Park Audubon Center is a very small nature center inside the Prospect Park boathouse. It is open on weekends from 10-1, is a quick walk away from the Prospect Park Zoo, and you can see the whole place in fifteen minutes. The building itself is very architecturally attractive, with white pillars and nice detailing. On the inside, there are two floors. The first floor has some taxidermy birds, as well as various games and interpretive activities for kids. The second floor has a small animal collection with 5-10 terrariums. There were two workers here, and one of them took out an albino Black Rat Snake and let me hold it, which was very cool. Outside the building is Prospect Park Lake, and there are some nice places to look for wild birds and turtles.

While this place definitely does not count as a zoo, I figured I would still post a short write-up on it since it is right near a zoo and it has a small animal collection.

These were the captive species I saw there:
    • Black Rat Snake (Pantherophis obsoletus)
    • Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina)
    • Indian Walking Stick (Carausius morosus)
    • Unsigned snails
    • Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus)
    • Red-Eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans)
    • Eastern River Cooter (Pseudemys concinna)
    • Unsigned terrestrial isopods
    • Rose Haired Tarantula (Grammostola rosea)
