Walrus Network recently posted that Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium will be seeking to import Lakina and Balzac Notably the AZA wants no restrictions on breeding, given their genetic value to the Walrus SSP and the unfortunate losses of Uquq and Pakak in 2021.
Well to build off the above information, there was an announcement today that the Aquarium is phases out the walruses, and instead building new enclosures for sea otters and seals. The articles states the walrus will be phased out by the end of the year and then construction is to start in 2023 and last one year. It does not say specifically when or where the Walruses will be heading. Some renderings are below for those interested.

Any updates on walrus Boris? I believe the plan was to transfer him to another facility be end of 2022, but have not seen any updates. Hopefully to a breeding situation in the US, given he is a proven bull.
SWSD would be best given it’s a larger breeding group. Unfortunately I haven’t heard anything yet regarding him.
