Tuesday is a big day for the future of Sacramento Zoo, with the article below discussing the 4 possible relocation sites for the attraction. The North Natomas Regional Park is the favored choice, with a map on the link outlining what the future zoo will look like. The total cost is circa $132 million. North Natomas Regional park could be new location for zoo | abc10.com Here is another article, with slightly different cost estimates: https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article247590990.html
Both estimates of full buildout - 132 million or 83 million - seem to be completely delusional to me. Any development of a modern quality 50 acre zoo will cost much more than that!
The vote about the zoo's potential relocation has been delayed for 90 days: City Council delays vote on Sacramento Zoo relocation for 90 days
The Sacramento Zoo is moving the kangaroos and emus into the red river hog exhibit. Meanwhile the former Australia exhibit will become home to cheetahs. (https://www.instagram.com/p/CJrLsR2pDlc/)
So the rock wallabies are headed out apparently. And where are the red river hogs going? Keeping a couple and mixing with the bongos or leaving entirely? Very interesting to see how this plays out.
A new, extremely detailed article that explains that the zoo is stuck in "decision gridlock": https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article250501574.html
Really sad that the capitol city of the wealthiest and most influential state in the world's most influential nation cannot agree on having a major zoo worthy of that city.

In case if you guys haven’t noticed by now. If you slow down the video and look at the crates very closely, you can get a better understanding that these males arrived from Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon.
That’s true I suppose, either way regardless of what I said before, no matter the circumstances for knowledge of what large species that come in from any other institution. It’s always best to get and understand a decent amount of confirmed information as possible. And now if you excuse me, I’m going to be heading off to bed now in my time zone area so good night to you @Great Argus.

A female Capybara is now on display in an enclosure between the snow leopard and lion habitats: Log into Facebook | Facebook
This being the Giant Anteater exhibit, it is unclear at the moment but it appears the Capybara is on display in the mornings and the anteater in the afternoon. Given the two species are often mixed I wonder if they will attempt this as the capy gets used to the exhibit and the two get used to being around each other.
