The new grizzly habitat is now open. Looks like a pretty big exhibit. Their pool alone looks amazing. It's clearly at least shoulder height deep (for a grizzly) and appears pretty wide and long. The cubs from last year have moved in and appear to be loving it. Check out the video on their Facebook page.

No, she is excluded from breeding for behavioral reasons. What specifically they are, I'm not sure considering she managed to rear three cubs successfully in 2015, but all the same, she's getting up there for a red panda either way, so its no breeding for her.

Thanks for sharing - the set up they have for their exhibits looks incredible. It's caused me to google how far away the site is for a visit (might need to be part of a bigger trip).

It's 4 hours north of Quebec City, and there is absolutely nothing but trees for 3 of those hours. Absolutely gorgeous at sunrise! But make sure your car's tank is completely full and you have snacks, etc :)

More of a 3-3,5 hours drive, doing this monthly (it used to be a bit longer/harder, but te road has gotten better in the last decade I believe). But you are absolutely right ; the road from Quebec to the region is gorgeous, especially in fall when the trees get colorful.
Good to know, there is also a gas station/restaurant/etc. about halfway between Quebec and the next city. It's not at the door, but it is worth it!

Mine might have been a bit longer because there was some construction on the road, in early October. That gas station really needs a sign about it being the only one! I was so glad I stopped.
