    It is not uncommon for female tigers in sub-standard accommodation to unfortunately kill their own cubs. These are solitary animals and need reclusion to bring up their offspring. Male tigers have no role in rearing them and are known to be killers in the wild.

    Seems to me the Korean ministerial / municipal guidelines actually are part and parcel of the problem. Instead of calling for better breeding and general tiger facility they are threatening to slap sentence on failure to report birth and death of the cub Siberian.

    I do not know the Samjung Park, Pusan personally, but the photo record seems to picture extremely small concrete and dark carnivore housing. Perhaps one of our Korean zoo posters may be able to elaborate!
