The male, Denver came from Baton Rouge Zoo and the female, Diana, came from San Antonio Zoo.

I read “Historic Birth” and “White Rhino” and thought of something way too good to be true... ;)

    Still fantastic news regardless!

This is a major step towards that other historic birth, though.

I smell an article with the phrase "Frozen Zoo" and "Northern White Rhino hybrid" coming soon...

The surrogacy idea was taking shape back when Nola died.

Ok, this is beyond stupid. This is just insensitive and insulting. Artificial insemination of nonhuman animals is not in anyway comparable to a woman getting raped. Artificial insemination is a just a method for breeding captive animals that, if properly performed, causes the animals no damage. Rape, on the other hand, is a heinous crime that causes harm 100% of the time. The two aren't comparable in any way, and anyone who believes otherwise is completely deluded and needs a serious reality check.

Thankfully, nobody takes PETA seriously anymore (if at all in the first place). They are no stranger to comparing tragic events to animal abuse, I believe they once compared slaughter houses to the holocaust and mocked Rudy Giuliani's prostate cancer diagnosis because he drinker milk. This group is full of delusion and thankfully this will only spread the word of the great work the safari park has been doing. PETA will forever be known as the group that attacked Steve Irwin after his death and killed thousands of cats and dogs, while the San Diego parks and thousands of other institutions across the globe will continue to do real conservation work that helps wildlife.

@pachyderm pro u know it is sad that PETA can’t use their intentions for good. Can’t they see for once how zoos do great conservation that helps wildlife around the world, can’t they see that zoos are stepping up by building new animal exhibits and how they save animals from extinction. I personally thought that when PETA partnered up with the Cincinnati Zoo to rescue Ndume from the Gorilla Foundation that they actually were starting to change. But clearly I was mistaken :(

Visiting tomorrow for the first time, can anyone tell me where I’ll be able to view the steenbok?
