Recent births include Red Titi, Pied Tamarin & new arrivals include two Armadillo, Bettong (very active) and White headed Bulbul from Newquay. The Macaw have gone and the zoo looks pretty good. Nice beer & foodie lunch at Ode cafe!!

Is that the 100% natural produce cafe that overlooks the car park and sea front ?
I ate in there before and found it nice but very pricey.
I liked Shaldon too, have the Civets had their babies yet?

I'd say a little pricey, rather than very, but you get what you pay for -the food passes it's ethical/green credentials (if that's an issue), it's not mass-produced and, more importantly, it's very tasty. On a nice day, sitting on a bench overlooking the bay, a hundred feet (or so) from a return visit to try and see a civet it's a bargain.

My first visit yesterday (combined with Living Coasts). Very interesting small collection - feels very much like a personal passion project with staff who are able to indulge their own interests.

I was very disappointed not to see the civets (which I had specifically gone for) but the keeper/owner went far and above the call of duty to tempt them out for us and was very apologetic on their behalf! If he's reading this (got the impression he might be a zoochatter), then THANK YOU.

1st visit for me today and apologies to the staff if they do read this, but I hadn't heard of an Acouchi before. Thankfully they also told me the Margay and Civets would be fed around 4pm, allowing me a stroll along the 'beach' before returning.

Owston's Palm Civet has been moved to Thrigby for breeding - There was a sign informing visitors of this during my visit yesterday.

I'm a bit of a luddite so maybe this isn't news to most people but on Shaldon's website their zoo map has a skypro 360 tour which is amazing. I hope more zoos use it.

Shaldon now have seven healthy tadpoles of the Trinidad stream frog growing in their frog nursery. It is the first time that this species has bred at Shaldon.

Information comes from the Shaldon Wildlife Trust's Facebook page.

Male red titi Buzz left Shaldon yesterday for a zoo in the midlands as part of the EAZA breeding programme.

Does someone know which zoo Buzz was sent to?

Most likely Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park - the illustrious @Brum may be able to confirm?
