I'll be visiting the South Island at the end of the year. Really hoping to see some Kiwi species, both wild and managed.

They've been selling kiwi souvenirs including this one at the Mandai parks since 2020! But i too hope the kiwi will arrive soon.

I think they came from Cressy Research Station.

I understand the Kiwi (1.0) has finally arrived! It should go on display soon at the Tasmanian Devil Trail.

Does anyone know whether the aardvark is still around or are they moving the aardvark to another exhibit?

Went to the park yesterday and only the owl signage was there. I couldn't tell whether the two aardvark signages were temporarily covered or removed. When I visited 2 weeks ago, there was also an "exhibit is being upgraded" sign placed inside the exhibit. Am I just being unlucky during these 2 visits? :(

Small updates from a visit tonight

    • marsh birds exhibit at fishing cat trail was blocked out
    • Gambian pouched rats inhabit the Luzon cloud rat exhibit
    • There's two unsigned owl species and raccoon dogs in the 2 enclosures in the queue for the amphitheatre
    • Asian elephant cow exhibit also seems to be renovating
Where is Alika the aardvark, is she safe, is she alright?
    • There's a quoll statue alongside the Tasmanian devil and wallaby statues by a bench. Does this hint at anything?

The Fishing Cat Trail aviary is being demolished. I'm not entirely sure but that area might be turned into an extension of the trail.

The amphitheatre exhibits are rotation enclosures that can house different species under the Animal Presentation team's care.

The Asian Elephant female exhibit is being expanded, and they will supposedly be mixed with Blackbuck.

The Aardvark is still at the park.

There weren't many birds left in the aviary, just a few Night Herons and Spotted Whistling Ducks, as well as Malayan Flying Foxes. These will be rehoused in other exhibits.

Asiatic black bears left last year. When I went, the tram narration suddenly played the audio for them but instantly stopped after suddenly realising that they're not there anymore

The Himalayan tahr habitat has been closed since this month, anyone aware of what's going on?
