A Skunk is like a relative of a Badger. I don't know why I put Blue Skunk for as they don't exist, but Twycross did have the Striped Skunk.

Have you details of the douc langurs please? I thought I remembered seeing them on Animal Magic but when I mentioned this on another thread was told Twycross had never had them.

Its such a shame some of these have gone as they are great species to have at a zoo. I wish the tigers were still at twycross. They could have them back, put them in where the lions are once they go into their new section. How come Twycross got rid of the cheetahs? When did they go?

When did they have Sun bears and where the heck where they kept? I didn't know they had doucs or giant anteaters either.

I knew they'd kept Giant Anteaters, but Doucs and Sun Bears are news to me. More information please?

Sun Bears were briefly kept at Twycross when the zoo opened, and they are in the very first Twycross guidebook (1965). They were kept roughly where the old Ape Nursery is now. They eventually moved on and replaced by Bobcats.

I'm sure the Douc Langurs are mentioned in 1 of my guidebooks, I will have to have a good look. If I can't find them, then its my mistake putting them on the list.

Giant Anteaters were kept roughly where the Waterways are now.

The anteaters actually produced a baby which was very unusual at the time, unfortunately it did not live long.

If my memory serves me correctly: On Animal Magic, Molly Badham introduced the douc langurs which were a pair, kept together with a solitary monkey of a different species (I can't remember what that was). I had not visited the zoo at this point which was probably early 70s, so didn't see them.

I am fairly certain that Twycross had some douc langurs , but do not think they lasted long .

Evidently they did, but I don't remember exactly when or ever seeing them there so they probably didn't last long as I used to be fairly regular with my visits.

I knew they had kept and bred proboscis langurs, so along with London and Howletts, were there only 3 collections to keep them in the UK.
It is a great shame that Howletts were so unlucky with their breeding group, where did Howletts get their doucs from?
