Sorry Jaxton I made an assumption everyone would know what DNS stood for. Tealovingdave is right it means did not survive. As you can see some hyenas have better luck and producing surviving cubs than others. Most hyenas were born as singletons. Some twins have happened but far more are singletons.
No TZFan, you are totally fine. I'm still a little new here on ZooChat, so I don't know a lot of acronyms or phrases.
As an interesting aside note, I drew up a family tree for spotted hyenas in the US a while back. It is very complicated and there's historically been quite a lot of inbreeding, which may be why some pairings are more successful than others.
0.1 M'Beli, 1.0 Kali, and 1.0 Gunther were transferred from Zoo Atlanta to Denver Zoo. Three's Company - Denver Zoo The article also states Charlie and Curtis were moved to Kansas City Zoo.
I'll probably put a note that there are also spotted hyenas in two very abysmal collections: the good Ye olde G.W. Exotic Animal Park and the equally atrocious zoo Wildlife in Need also both have spotted hyenas.
