Must not be the only fan of cricket here?

Thought start a thread as the summer has finally kicked off today with the start of the English test summer.

Joe Root one of the finest batsman I have seen play, played us out of trouble today.

All other test cricket welcome here. :)

Unfortunately there's been a mix-up in the Australian innings. Both batsmen are stranded at the striker's end.

(Only way you lot are retaining the Ashes)

I think we will struggle down under, top order is now where near settled and well not sure we have the bowlers is we lose Anderson and Broad or both.

Hopefully we will sort something out over this series with South Africa and then have something settled of Pakistan series.

Going to miss Blowers on TMS, his voice is a delight to listen to.

I think there may be quite a few changes this summer before we're ready for the Aussies (we have to assume they will be ready for us). Too many Tykes in the team at the moment!

You're assuming it goes ahead. We currently have no players.

ECB have confirmed if nothing is sorted by October when they are due to fly out they are not gong.

Poor day today, but still in the driving seat if we can knock a few wickets off cheap tomorrow.

Cricket Australia won't give up the Ashes without a fight. If necessary they will buy the Afghanistan XI and naturalise them all ;)

Dunno. The Brits tried to acquire Afghanistan three times and failed. The Russians and Americans didn't do much better,

Looking forward to see how the new test nations perform, I expect that is maybe a while before they win a game.

I wasn't suggesting that they take over the whole country, just the cricket team. They could give them baggy green caps and Shane Warne blonde rinses :)

Not sure about that. Ireland are already the best ODI team in Europe... :p

Hmmm....test cricket is a whole other beast.

And well recently in ODI they were awful....:D

Bit of cloud cover today, hopefully we can get the ball moving around today and skittle the rest of the South African batsman and take a nice first innings lead.
