Hello all, Thanks for having us here, we are CLD Fencing Systems and for the last 40 years we have worked with Zoos and Wildlife Parks across the United Kingdom on the design and manufacture of their Enclosure Fencing Systems and Physical Access Control. The forum turned up in a search we were carrying out and saw a lot of questions about Fencing so thought we would join up and offer any advise where we can. Look forward to getting to know you all and helping where we can!
We have worked with Blackpool Zoo, Chessington Word of Adventures, ZSL London, Folly Farm, Isle of Wight and many more. Obviously some of our clients we can't mention in public at their request You can read about the Folly Farm case study if you are interested here https://www.cld-fencing.com/case-studies/folly-farm-zoo-fencing/ the enclosure went on to win the silver award for best enclosure design at the BIAZA annual Zoo awards.
Personally, I think your fencing looks very antique (very nice), it looks pretty safe, but I don't like the look of it so much, no offense. Which leads me to the question, have you guys worked with natural fencing/barriers?
It's an interesting point you raise, where can nature and safety meet. I think the paper on unZoo is an interesting one and I know when working with design aspects such as the Land of Lions at London Zoo other natural barriers were used in areas where there wasn't a clear risk. However, where there is one the aspect of safety has to take a priority. For example this is the Land of Lions at ZSL London. You can see our fencing system to the rear of the enclosure, however also included is a mixture of natural fencing and barriers to create the environment for the Lions.
