Does 2017 Big Year really count? It was officially posted December 30 2016.

I’ll allow it since it was made for use in 2017.

Pretty sure he’s referring to the most recent one in California this year.

Let the record show that the one private message vote was Chester Zoo News 1, 2 and 3.

I was counting last years thread as it carried on until this year, with some pretty great entries too! ;)

Now if that isn't allowed then Sooty Mangabey gets it for his (I Wish I Was In) California thread.

And @TheWalrus I was counting snowleopard's thread from this year, I just always prefix his road trips with the word Epic nowadays! ;)

That would be me. Because the news on that site has been very important including the first successful birth of a Andean bear in the U.K, six tuatara, and the first ever breeding of Montsey brook salamanders outside of Spain. So in terms of news those threads have been full to the brim of it.

    You are of course correct.

The TV programme on Wednesday claimed it to be the first 'mainland' UK birth, which may have caused the confusion!

Very, very difficult. I tried to make it as diverse as possible.

    - How to Found a Zoo (Batto)
    - Ungulate Taxonomy Revised: The Reasons of splits of G&G (lintworm)
    - Hix does brunei (Hix)

Honorable mentions go to "another thread about a new zoo" by nicholas, "Kipunji Quest: Lintworm goes to Tanzania" (by lintworm), "Why do we love zoos: a summary in stereotypes" (also by lintworm), and all the "Butterflyfishes/Bird-of-Paradise/Starlings/dwarf angelfishes/Bowerbirds etc. in captivity" (by various members like Vision and Zoovolunteer but mostly by Vogelcommando).
