Over on this thread, I asked the good people of zoochat nominate their personal favorite threads of 2019. After almost two weeks of submitting nominations, these were the top five highest rated threads.

FunkyGibbon is.....Big in Japan by @FunkyGibbon

Hipporex's Guide to Interesting and Unique Prehistoric Fauna by @Hipporex

Snowleopard's 2019 Road Trip: Netherlands, Belgium, France & Germany by @snowleopard

ZooChat Cup - rebooted by @CGSwans

    Zoo Decisions 3: Phase 1 (1935-1959) by @Zoofan15

For the next two weeks, you will be able to cast your vote for which of these five deserve to be THE thread of the year. Whoever has the most votes by New Years Day (CT time) will be crowned thread of the year. I look forward to see the results.

That explains why I get notifications for threads I've only visited to comment on once :p

I'd like to say a big thank you to all who voted for my thread...it's much appreciated. :) My 8 North American road trip threads (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018) paled in comparison to my solitary European trek in terms of comments and general appeal. There are so many zoo enthusiasts in Europe and that is why the thread was my most popular one yet...plus I packed in 95 zoos of all shapes and sizes! I truly love typing up zoo reviews and I'm happy to do it again when I (tentatively) head back to Europe in 2022.

Congratulations to @snowleopard for taking out the gold and @Hipporex for taking out the bronze. Your wins represent a lot of effort put in by both of you and it’s good to see that effort recognised.

Zoo Decisions 3 has been awarded the silver, which I’m stoked about. Thank you to everyone who has participated in ZD3, especially @Jambo who has co-chaired the thread with me; @TheGerenuk, @CloudPardus, @Tafin and @Luke01 who always give it their all in the daily challenges; and @AmbikaFan and @Ashley LaRee Lewis for your feedback and ideas. As with ZD1 and ZD2, this is in no way my award alone.

I’d also liked to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us. It was an honour to have your vote amongst four high quality and equally deserving threads.

Huh, well that was unexpected. I'd first like to thank the Academy for this prestigious award...

In all seriousness, I didn't expect to get voted for let alone make a podium. So thank you to those of you that nominated and voted for my thread. I'm genuinely happy so many people enjoy it! I know I've kind of been slacking lately when it comes new profiles but as I've said before, as long as people keep enjoying it, I'll periodically still update it. Here's to another 98+ profiles in 2020!

I would also like to congratulate @snowleopard and @Zoofan15 for getting higher up on the podium.
