    Hi everyone,

    Planning a trip shortly.

Does the zoo still have Siberian tigers? (It does still have Sumatrans right).

Is Puppe the orangutan still around? (She must be getting quite elderly) and was always my favourite animal (along with Charles the gorilla).

    Welcome to zoo chat!

The zoo does not have Siberian tigers (Amurs) anymore. Their exhibit is currently the home of the zoo's giant pandas Er Shun and Da Mao. When the pandas head to Calgary sometime in 2018 or later (cub dependent) the zoo will bring back the Amurs.

However that being said the zoo is currently home to two Sumatran Tigers, Hari and Kemala. The zoo is working to breed the pair but no luck thus far.

Puppe is indeed still around. She is one of the oldest orangs in North America at 46. She now lives alone as her youngest son Budi is now maturing and doesnt need her any more. The orangs rotate in four groupings; Puppe; Ramai and Jingga; Sekali and sometimes Budi as they are hoping for breeding but he is young; and the boys Budi and Kembali. I don't know the rotation well enough to point you to the best chance to see Puppe.

Charles is alive and well also. He and Josephine are getting up there in age as well.

Get in every opportunity you can to see those old timers because each time now could realistically be your last.
