Rainforest Habitat in PNG holds 4 species of tree kangaroos including Goodfellow's, Matchie's, Grizzled's, Doria's. In total they have about 23.

Yes it would be nice if we could get a couple of new TK from there with some new bloodlines for our Australian breeding program

    Mark,

I guess the only candidates for the ARAZPA region are the D. goodfellowi. Kapal has just relisted them at Rainforest Habitat as only 5.2. So, the only realistic imports from there outside range are a few unrelated males.

I sincerely hope that the EEP tree kangaroo programme will mirror the ARAZPA one or eventually be integrated into it (I do not care personally who takes on the helm, just that it is vis-a-vis coop full stop). This is also the WAZA policy regarding small populations in captivity .........

    Hoped for scenario.
    on loan:
2.0 to ARAZPA from Rainforest Habitat
1.0 to EEP from Rainforest Habitat
    in return:
0.1 from either region back to Rainforest Habitat
+ co-financing another in-situ tree kangaroo programme (not the Tenkile one)

Yes, she has already been exported to Krefeld.

Regarding the ARAZPA tree kangaroo programme run by Adelaide Zoo:
    1. Is the Dendrolagus matschei on "phase out" in ARAZPA Zoos (considering only Adelaide itself maintain a small breeding group)?
    2. Will there be exchange of Dendrolagus goodfellowi bloodlines with the Rainforest Habitat in Lae, Papua in the foreseeable future?
Are the Rainforest Habitat Dendrolagus goodfellowi (un-)related to the current ARAZPA stock?

Jelle in regards to your questions,

1, I am very sure the Matscheis are on the phase out list,

2, I have been trying to find out if any zoos here in ARAZPA were to get some new bloodlines from Papua for some time now but I have come to a bit of a dead end on that :(.

I would be surprised if any of the Goodfellows at the RFH are related to stock here, maybe Zoopro could throw some light on this matter.

So far they have one young male bred at Dreamworld, I believe at least one female will be added. I believe the Tree roo Rescue centre is looking for more holders of rescued animals. I understand a captive breeding program for the species is being slowly put together!
