Looking at the screen shot would think the closest exhibit to chimp Eden would be for the gorillas as it appears to have a moat around it which seam to be the norm nowadays for containing them and there enclosure would go to make way for the development, it appears to have two outside areas also feeding of the one house could this mean they could support two groups again.

It looks like the Gorilla house would be almost on the site of the existing one. Two outdoor islands as it appears on the map would definately allow for two groups- presumably if that was the case the second one would be males only e.g. their own Lope & Shufai for starters.

Or bonobos so both groups can have an outdoor enclosure?

Logistically, I guess bonobo would make more sense. If the one or both of the two closest to the perimeter were for Gorilla it would allow them to demolish the existing Gorilla houses to make way for the twin island one.

I though that to at first but the size of that exhibit compared to chimp Eden currently holding 17 chimps lent me more towards gorillas

Does anyone know if there are still Siamang Gibbons in the enclosure next to the leopards and meerkats? No sign of them, or the three in the gibbon house, last week.

Just checked there web site as I may be going there this weekend and they are promoting there memberships for Christmas gifts. Upon further inspection Blackpool is back on the list of zoos to get in free till feb 14th again I wonder if this will be a regular winter thing as being a sea side resort it must get quiet in the winter months. But more alarmingly Colchester appears to have disappeared from the list ! Can they do that, I have only had my current membership six months and haven’t had the chance to visit Colchester yet, it was sold on the bases I could visit there for free / included in the membership fee yet now appears to be taken away with out warning ⚠️

Check the terms and conditions. I suspect they’ve included some clauses that protect them. Something along the lines of “entry to other zoos is not guaranteed and the offer may change at any time”.

Yes. All the zoos in the reciprocal scheme (at least all the ones I have looked at) state this.

So Twycross are letting Colchester members in free unlimited times, and Colchester may have stopped letting Twycross members in free at all?

Will ask if I go at the weekend perhaps it’s a summer winter thing with Blackpool appearing in the winter and Colchester in the summer

This is the response I got from
    Hi,

As far as we are aware we still have our reciprocal agreement with Colchester which allows you to enter free of charge to their Zoo.

All you need is to present your Twycross Zoo membership card to their admission booths and this should allow you entry.

    Best Wishes,
    Team TZ!

It's always best to contact the zoos directly. A couple of years ago HWP was not on the Chester Zoo website list, but it was confirmed by the park that CZ members were granted free entry. It could easily be an editing error on the web pages etc.

Molly(female) has been moved to Wingham from Twycross
Jin(male) has been moved to Wingham from Monkeyworld in Dorset. These are the only two so far...nothing has been announced re longerterm futures.

They still have 2:3 at Twycross, male 'Batu' along with females 'Kibriah' and her youngest daughter 'Kayan' and 'Maliku' with her son, 'Basuki'.
