The Ark Wildlife Park also now closed, they have an online appeal for donations to help keep them going through this difficult time. Shaldon Zoo also now closed. Presumably the small places have been hanging on as long as they could as they have less financial reserves?
Quite a lot of the zoos are asking for donations, or will be in the coming days. They can't continue for long without any revenue stream
Hence why I think Twycross is a strong candidate for being last zoo standing. If only all zoos could use Damien ego as a shield to protect them
Funny how the man who loves to proclaim zoos need to close down somehow fails to close his own collections down once there is a pressing reason why it is in the public good to do so
No doubt he’s got the Daily Mail on speed-dial in anticipation of an interview to flog his two-pennies worth. Aren’t we overdue a hit of Damo’s wisdom?
It's very easy for me to criticise sat in bed here, but you would think that an organisation of ZSL's standing would have some ability to predict 1) and 2). I think 3) is the most likely.
I find the wording of their announcement rather ominous - '...We really hope this closure is a temporary measure...' The opposite of temporary is permanent. Mr Gigit says I am being too pedantic.
Hamerton restricting to online tickets for the time being "Plans are in place to introduce an on-line ticketing service, but until this goes live we will post every day (here on the web-site and on all our social media pages), IF the Park has reached capacity."
The Isle of Wight Zoo and the Monkey Haven on the Island are both now closed as is Dartmoor Zoo. All 3 collections asking for help and donations to get them through this.
