    There are some very interesting pictures here; thanks for posting the links.

    Regarding the images on the zebra link, it is perhaps worth adding the following:-

    • The person driving the cart in the third and fifth photograph is Lord Walter Rothschild, the founder of the Tring Zoological Museum

    • The second and fourth picture, featuring the Mazwattee Tea Cart, was taken outside the offices of the Zoological Society of London

    If you look at Rothschild's four-in-hand, the fourth animal is a pony. Apparently this was because the Zebras took their cue from the pony, without which they would refuse to move off.

    I wonder what strange animals pull the carts now? Would be exciting for visitors, and things like camels, zebu gayal or yak are normal beasts of burden in Asia.
