They were both hit by cars when they were ‘pups’ and both suffer from injuries that prevented them from being released back into the wild.

On August 25th, the zoo announced they have reacquired a (0.1) red panda named Mei Lun from the Lincoln Park Zoo in Illinois. She is now on exhibit in the Forever Forests area of the facility. Log into Facebook
Pretty important update for the facility, they have been closed since Sunday and won't reopen until at least tomorrow due to failure to renew USDA license. They will have a new inspection tomorrow, the 29th, in hopes of regaining the license and reopening. Utica Zoo hopes to reopen by end of week following ‘temporary lapse of inspection’
Very interesting. A lot of places went 1-2 years without an inspection during covid, I guess they're making up for that lost time?
