On page 36 it talks about a global membership base and that they have added 9 new members this year, including Zoo Knoxville. Zoo Knoxville has been apart of the AZA since 1984, as it says in the magazine, so my question is what is the difference between what they were at (I assume some sort of regional membership level?) and the global status they now have? I was under the impression that if you were apart of a regional group like the AZA you were in turn a member of the WAZA. It appears I was wrong. Is there a more rigorous eval process or something? Anyone know more that could explain it to me?
